Cowan Printing stays current with the latest digital technology. Our preferred format for print production is a PDF file (*.pdf). We can use your original InDesign, Word, or Publisher files for both offset and digital printing, but you need to include all embedded source files, such as fonts and pictures. Please note that if an image prints to the edge of the paper, you must add crop marks and an additional .125" (1/8") bleed on all four sides in your art file.
Providing Your Digital File Is Easy
Art files may be provided on a thumb drive, DVD, or Blu-ray disc, or you can email your file to the prepress department at firstname.lastname@example.org. We also have an FTP server for uploading larger files from your office. Our FTP address is http://18.104.22.168:8080. The user is cowan, and the password is printing. Once you're logged in, click on the browser uploader tab. Browse for the file(s) on your system, then click to start uploading. Please call us if you have any problems. We're always here to help.
Color Matching & Color Proofs
The way colors appear is affected by monitors, printers, and lighting. Color shifting also occurs if your file is built with RGB colors because printers use CMYK. Please identify any spot colors. If you have an existing print with the "perfect" color, please share it with us. If there are color-related issues, a color-corrected Sherpa proof may be recommended. This proof lets you confirm the colors, and then it's used by the pressmen to adjust the colors on the press.
